Automate Gold Disk Scanning
proGD was designed to allow users to scan multiple targets simultaneously using DISA’s Gold Disk. On our own contracts, we have been able to kick off 500 Gold Disk scans in 15 minutes. We have clients that scan their entire enterprise (6000+ devices) seamlessly with proGD.

Background
The first iteration of DISA Gold Disk required system administrators to log onto every device and use the Gold Disk console to perform scans to ensure compliance with DISA STIGs.
DISA recognized the resource-intensity of this approach and wisely created a non-interactive mode that would allow administrators to cover all of the checks that the Gold Disk automated via command prompt – without having to use the user interface.
This helped tremendously, but it still required administrators to get the Gold Disk files onto every target and launch the scan from that target. This process required administrators to log onto every single device they wanted to scan to copy the Gold Disk files to it, kick off the scan, and then retrieve the results.
We got tired of spending so much time and effort to complete comprehensive scans with the Gold Disk, that we decided to automate this process. Our goal was to make it so easy that any user could perform Gold Disk scans without even requiring remote desktop sessions.
I Can Scan All of My Windows Devices With DISA Gold Disk
From one machine, a user of proGD can distribute the DISA Gold Disk files, kick off the scan, and then retrieve the result files by dropping them in a location they defined.
As you might imagine, this saves a tremendous amount of time for administrators responsible for numerous Windows devices. We’ve seen our customers move away from sampling their Windows devices due to manual constraints and time requirements to an approach where every single Windows device on their network is scanned with Gold Disk.
